Boston: Gas Station Owner Moves To State Senate After 16 Years In The Mass. House

Come January, Massachusetts is not only going to have a new Governor but also twenty new House legislators and five new senators.

But one of the outgoing Representatives, Republican Vinny deMacedo of Plymouth’s First District, isn’t going too far – just a few floors up to the Senate — after claiming outgoing Senate President Therese Murray’s seat in the same district, who choose not  to run this year.

And deMacedo, who has been in the legislature for 16 years now, is not your typical politician.

“I’m just Vinny – Vinny from the gas station—just a regular guy who’s had that incredible opportunity to serve in this historic institution,” deMacedo said during an interview at the State House.

During his time in office DeMacedo says he tried to never get too caught up on the Hill, and that’s why you can always find him from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. every morning throughout the work week …read more
