Boston: Governor Deval Patrick Takes His Final Steps From The State House

Despite being one of the coldest days of the year, crowds of people gathered outside the State House to bid farewell to Governor Deval Patrick during his ceremonial “Lone Walk”  after eight years on the job.

On Thursday Patrick is turning the reins over to Republican Charlie Baker, who is scheduled to be inaugurated at noon.

But before Patrick’s ceremonial “Lone Walk” down the capitol steps, he met with Baker to exchange the key to the Governor’s office, the traditional Butler Bible dating back to 1884 as well as the official gavel of the Governor’s Council.
