Duxbury: Harbor Finally Being Dredged
The dredging of Duxbury Harbor is finally going to get underway.
Within the next two weeks the $4.5 million dredging project of Duxbury Harbor will start.
The dredging has not been done since 1997 and Duxbury Town Manager Rene Read says the harbor desperately needs the work.
“There is a tremendous amount of siltation that has occurred in both the channel and the mooring basin. The mooring basin is probably one third to almost halfway silted in. The channel itself should be running at 8-feet deep and currently runs in spots three and four feet deep,” said Read.
Read says the dredging will be complete by the end of December.
