Kingston: Mitigation Plan, Town-Owned Surplus Vehicles on Selectmen’s Agenda Tonight
By David Skill
Kingston selectmen expect to act on a resolution to adopt the “Old Colony Region Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan” and the town’s own Hazard Mitigation Plan at tonight’s meeting (Tuesday, August 25).
Selectman chair Elaine Fiore explained what benefit this will be to the town.
“Whenever there are storms and natural disasters, there are hazards, and it’s a plan that outlines different structures in town, dams and bridges and buildings and what the risk factor would be during the storm if it’s low or moderate. So it gives us some valuable information to focus on in an emergency situation,” said Fiore.
Also tonight, an update on auctioning off town-owned surplus vehicles and equipment.
“We have some old police cars, some trucks, a couple of boats from the harbormaster that have long past their days of effectiveness,” said Fiore.
Selectmen meet tonight at 5:00 PM at the Kingston Town House.
