Kingston Library Celebrates 20 Years on Green Street

As of December 2014, the Kingston Public Library has been in the “new” building at 6 Green Street for 20 years. To mark the occasion, we’ve put together a few events.

Throughout December and January, the Art Gallery will host an exhibit showing the Kingston Public Library over the last 20 years.

Throughout December, the Library will accept non-perishable food items in lieu of fines for overdue Kingston materials. Details on our website and at the Front Desk.

Presidents Days, December 3, 8, 13, 18, 22, 26 & 30

Three letters signed by United States Presidents, now held by the Local History Room, will be on display in the Library Lobby on selected days in December.

Opening Reception for the KPL exhibit, Saturday, December 6, 2:00 to 4:00

Join us for light refreshments and entertainment by Kingston favorite Bill Alberti in the Children’s Activities Room.

Be sure to visit the Friends of the Library’s Unique Booktique book sale in the Meeting Room from 10:00 to 3:00. All proceeds fund Library activities.

Talk by history teacher Bob Kostka, Saturday, December 13, 2:00 to 3:30

Presentation of proclamation from the state legislature, January 8, 2015

KINGSTON – The physical future of the Kingston Public Library has received a hoped-for boost from the state.

The Library has been awarded a provisional Planning and Design Grant of $50,000 from the

Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Library needs surveys were a useful tool in 2013 as library officials looked to the future.

While identifying areas for improvements with a survey first distributed at Town Meeting in April, the big picture became clearer.
