Weymouth: X-rated shop could reopen at its original location following arson fire
By David Skill
An adult video store in Weymouth, that was burned down in an arson fire allegedly by a man who blamed the store for his addiction to pornography, could reopen on the same site.
Amazing Intimate Essentials will, reportedly, be one of the tenants in a retail building at 138 Bridge Street, not far from the Fore River Bridge.
Last month, the town of Weymouth Planning Department approved plans for a one-story building that would have, as one of its tenants, Amazing Intimate Essentials.
However, the Weymouth Building Department has not yet given the project its approval.
Jon Fernald of Rockland has been charged with setting the fire, and is awaiting trial on charges of arson. He also suffered burns as a result of the fire.
According to the Patriot Ledger, the store is allowed to reopen at the same location because it was originally opened prior to a 1994 zoning amendment that restricted adult video stores to industrial zones in town.
